Lessons Learned In Hungary
Near the end of June, sixteen children from mostly
non-Christian backgrounds gathered at a camp in Pecsvarad,
Hungary. They came with the hope of learning English, but
they also received a lesson they weren’t expecting: the
message that Jesus loves them.

The theme for the week was Noah’s Ark, which included
inspiring, colorful crafts, a garden excursion, and even a
field trip to a local farm. The activities were fun, but the
children also enjoyed the English lessons they received every
morning and afternoon. The highlight of the week was the last
day of camp, when the children painted a rainbow backdrop and
performed the story of Noah for their parents. All of the
children enjoyed the week of camp and were eager to come
again.

Co-worker, Vaszerne Bori commented, “It was ironically
rainy during a week of teaching about Noah. Yet I believe
that in the rainy days to come, those songs and the story of
Noah will come to mind. I envision parents asking the
children to translate the songs, and the children explaining
how the rainbow is a reminder of God’s love, and so in both
hearts the seed planted during camp is watered.”
Since it is the desire of many parents for their children to
learn English, this camp proved to be an excellent way to meet
that need while creating an opportunity to share the love of
God. This camp was the first of its kind, but because of its
success, the team expects many more to follow.
Would you take a minute to pray that God would give wisdom
to develop this children’s ministry? It’s just one more way
we’re trying to reach the millions of children in Europe with
the love of God!
